Forever My Mama is my own “writing dump” where I can collect my thoughts and ideas about being the caregiver of an aging parent. Here I record my experiences, frustrations, inspirations and insights. Here I share what I have learned and what I can’t yet seem to grasp. Here I reveal the words of my mother through her own writing and through the veil of her interactions with me and with others.
Forever My Mama is my attempt to help other caregivers by providing information on aging - psychological, cognitive, and physical concerns, medications, interventive and creative strategies, resources, and more. I believe that by revealing the raw truth about bad days as well as good days, readers will be encouraged to trudge onward in their own caregiving challenges.
It’s worth it. No matter how difficult it is to care for an aging loved one, I believe way down in the depths of my core that its worth it. She is, after all, forever my mama. So the best way to summarize the content of this blog is to say that because she is forever my mama, that fact alone makes the challenges of being her caregiver worth every effort.
